This slide presentation outlines information on developing ultraviolet (UV) dose response curves for carbon-filtered water spiked with "emerging microbes." Topics covered include: adenovirus; toxoplasma gondii oocysts; mycobaterium terrae; V-1 phage as an additional viral indicator; and, determine synergistic effects between UV and chlorine for the above microbes. Results include these observations: Cryptosporidium was (target protozoa for LT2ESWTR) effectively inactivated; UV followed by chlorine effectively inactivated ALL the microbes/surrogated tested; there were no significant byproducts formation at the doses tested (40-140 mJ/cm2) for both LP and MP; and, synergistic effect between UV and chlorine was not apparent.
