Ionics organized a team that prepared the successful bid for the 26.4 mgd (100,000 m<sup>3</sup>/d)
desalter to provide drinking-quality water for the Trinidad and Tobago Water and Sewage
Authority. MWH, Inc. was a member of that team and was charged with design of the
system to pretreat the water for the seawater reverse osmosis (SWRO), as well as certain
other support facilities. This paper addresses five objectives: provide background on the Trinidad
project; summarize the development of the pre-design concept; review some of the
key pilot results; outline some of the design specifications of the Point Lisas facility;
and, review the highlights of the first year and a half of performance. Includes 7 references, tables, figures.
