This slide presentation outlines a study on changes in residential water use due to drought. Study goals include: determine changes made in response to
time and drought;
evaluate compliance with outdoor
irrigation rules and guidelines;
establish a new baseline for evaluation of
future conservation measures; and,
assess impact of drought restrictions on
lawn quality. Study conclusions indicated:
indoor changes due more to fixture changes
than customer habit changes; there is
still potential for additional savings; there is
still a need to educate customers about how to change
habits;
significant reductions in outdoor use, but
present levels may be detrimental to landscapes;
customers generally complied with irrigation
rules and guidelines; and,
leaks increased and we don't yet know why. Includes tables, figures.
