This slide presentation outlines a study on residuals disposal. Key features of membrane treatment are outlined first and include: nanofiltration (NF)/reverse osmosis (RO) basics; concentrate characteristics; and, sparing soluble foulants. Concentrate disposal options are outlined and include: surface water body;
municipal sewer;
deep well injection;
evaporation pond;
land application; and,
zero liquid discharge. A case study is outlined and the project description includes the objective of supplying an additional 40,000 ac-ft of
municipal water annually to NE Colorado,
average flow of 36 MGD;
alternatives consist of
additional diversions, impoundments and
treatment of high quality surface water, and
treatment of highly impacted surface water down stream of a large metropolitan area; South Platte River/Denver, Colorado. Case study topics outlined include: Design Requirements ¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿ Treatment of
Impacted Surface Water; design schematic; assumptions; capital cost estimate; annual O&M cost estimate; amortized cost estimate; percent of most probable cost; and, treatment cost comparison. Includes tables, figures.
