This powerpoint presentation outlines a study on acute health
concerns from
lead in water, focusing on LCR Sampling and how it is
missing the
worst of the
lead in potable water. The presentation addresses how the detection of lead hazards is critically dependent on the details of sampling such as: effect of bottle type; cleaning aerators before
sampling;
don't sample hot water; and,
first draw is not always
worst sample. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency MCL for lead is 15µg/l. Statistics on children at risk for lead consumption are given, and the high potential exposure
from food preparation in schools
and not just water is examined. The variability in lead
sampling data at some
hazardous taps is demonstrated.
