This powerpoint presentation begins by defining hydrazine, listing the health effects of hydrazine, and outlining hydrazine formation. Observations about the characteristics of hydrazine are presented, along with the project goals of an unsolicited research project funded by the Awwa Research Foundation that include answering the following questions: can we analyze for hydrazine down to 10 ng/L; is hydrazine stable in water; and, could hydrazine form under drinking-water or wastewater chloramination conditions? Analytical work by the Metropolitan Water Department of Southern California is presented, along with experimental work at the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA). Hydrazine analysis and stability in water, hydrazine formation testing and results, and a hydrazine formation model are all outlined.
