This powerpoint presentation demonstrates how Malcolm Pirnie identified water quality and operational issues while conducting Initial Distribution System Evaluations (IDSEs), and through forward thinking, used the information to
prepare for upcoming regulations. The Stage 2 IDSE Compliance Schedule is provided, along with data analysis for SMP. Four IDSE case studies are outlined and include introductory information and results of each situation. Looking forward:
provides information on impacts of operations
on water quality;
helps identify problem areas;
compliance issues;
disinfectant residual;
potential nitrification/biogrowth;
may benefit compliance of future regulations; and,
total coliform rule. Future direction of regulations includes:
greater focus on distribution system;
systematic approach;
increased complexity;
potential impacts on operations, engineering
and management; and,
not just water quality.
