This powerpoint presentation begins by providing bulleted points on The Problem that include the following:
most local governments have no idea
what a backflow or cross connection entails,
the importance of backflow assemblies, or
the financial consequences of a backflow
incident; and,
most politicians believe that
backflow assemblies are architecturally unattractive,
the location of the assembly is unimportant, and
their constituents are always correct. Points are presented on getting the politicians' attention, and the causes of backflow such as backpressure and backsiphonage, along with the requirements for installing a
backflow. Three examples of backflow incidents are outlined, and the location of the assembly is presented as the single largest complaint of a backflow program.
