This powerpoint presentation begins by providing background information on the internal layers of scale inside pipes that contain
corrosion byproducts. An example of a case in Texas is presented, along with tap water quality and pipe water interactions. Key observations include:
distribution systems are complex and dynamic
(corrosion, nitrification, biological re-growth);
chemically and biologically stable water will
reduce the influence of pipe materials on water
quality; and,
select benign pipe materials or lined pipes for
new or replacement pipes.
