This powerpoint presentation begins by providing a brief overview of Aurora (Colorado) Water's Prairie Waters Project. Source water quality and treatment goals are presented, along with ultraviolet (UV) advanced oxidation treatability testing and implementation issues. Key findings and conclusions indicate that UV-AOP is a key component of Aurora Water's Multiple Barrier Approach: Nitrosamines - destruction is predictable and repeatable, NDMA is conservative indicator, both for presence and removal; 0.2 to >1 log destruction of other emerging contaminants is also achieved; biological filters downstream of UV-AOP quench peroxide residual; and, sustainable element of multi-barrier approach provides destruction, not transfer or discharge. Includes tables, figures.
