This powerpoint presentation begins by providing the following definition of Renewable Energy:
"energy that is produced
from the utilization of natural resources
such as sunlight, wind, rain, tides, and
geothermal heat, which are naturally
replenished." The presentation presents water treatment plants (WTPs) as excellent candidates for going green, and the benefits of going green are presented including: Reduction in Plant Operating Costs;
Improved Public Relations; and,
Preparedness For The Future. Laws and regulations concerning energy are presented, along with financial incentives for going green and renewable energy evaluation tools. RETScreen® International is presented and includes the following:
free software available from Natural
Resources Canada;
developed with input from government,
industry, and academia;
can be used to evaluate energy production,
life-cycle costs, emissions, and financial
feasibility for projects around the world; and,
includes product, cost, and climate
databases. An example of wind energy technology used at an Ohio WTP is provided. Includes figures.
