This powerpoint presentation begins by providing a brief overview of IPCC 4AR and three key uncertainties that include the following:
impacts in some developing countries;
the capacity to adapt - what technological limits, what
costs; and,
the various mixes of adaptation and mitigation that are
likely to be optimal. IPCC 4AR - some major impacts are not avoidable, even with
substantial mitigation, and serious adaptation measures are
needed. The potential for adaptation varies greatly, both between and
within regions, e.g: in Australia and New Zealand. The presentation compares adaptation to mitigation, along with the costs of avoiding
dangerous climate change, observed changes in North American water
resources during the past century, and adaptation measures. Includes tables, figures.
