This powerpoint presentation begins by providing HHS/RCAP project goals that include the following:
develop information, tools, and training to
help small utility board members develop
a culture of safety and security at the
water system; and,
understand full range of risks and
threats that could impact small utilities'
source water, operations, and services. Interview questions are presented for small water systems on risks or threats they are facing, and the level of importance security issues are assigned. Local vandalism, natural disasters, water security, climate change, groundwater overpumping, source water contamination, mountaintop removal, aging infrastructure, and aging workforce are issues that are ranked from high to low priority. Addressing these problems using
current management strategies, and influencing change in small
systems and communities are presented.
