This powerpoint presentation begins by providing a brief overview of biological water treatment, anoxic biological treatment, biological filtration,
biologically enhanced filtration, and
biofiltration. Physical, chemical, and biological mechanisms are involved, and the presentation covers the different forms that include:
Slow Sand Filtration - Slow Biological Filtration (SBF);
Rapid Biological Filtration (RBF);
Granular Activated Carbon Biological Adsorption (GBA);
Ozone-Enhanced Biological Filtration (OEBF); and,
Biological Perchlorate/Nitrate Removal Processes (BPNP). Two examples of biological filtration are provided, along with methods for monitoring and operating biological filters, the suitability of biological treatment to research purposes, and increasing the acceptance of biological treatment processes.
