This powerpoint presentation begins by providing a brief overview of Dallas Water Utilities and a project initiated in 2006 of a comprehensive review of
water quality issues. Key goals were to:
improve disinfectant
residual maintenance;
improve biological and
chemical stability of water; and,
address water quality
issues. Water quality monitoring is presented, along with
nitrification control pilot testing,
water treatment plant evaluations, and
biological filtration pilot testing. Presentation conclusions indicate that: maintain chlorine to ammonia
ratio of 5 to 1 within plant
and in the distribution system;
monitor and account for
ammonia from source water
and recycle streams;
consider in-plant
nitrification control
operational measures; and,
chemically and biologically
stabilize the finished water. Includes tables, figures.
