This powerpoint presentation begins by providing a brief overview of conservation measures at the San Antonio Water System (SAWS) that included implementation of a multi-phase brackish groundwater desalination (BGD) evaluation during 2005-2006. Phase 2, 2006-2008, included development of a feasibility study of BGD and detailed hydrogeologic evaluations. Phase 3, 2007-2009, implemented a membrane pilot study. Project objectives were to: provide sufficient background information, operating and water quality data for design-build teams; and, enable SAWS to initiate the permitting of the final full-scale facility early in the design-build process. Testing protocol is presented, along with reverse osmosis (RO) treatment systems, the demonstration scale pilot, testing results, and membrane fouling. Includes tables, figures.
