This powerpoint presentation begins by providing a brief overview of the Puerto Rico Aqueduct and Sewer
Authority (PRASA), and the Non-Revenue Water Reduction Program
(NRWRP). PRASA's goal is to reduce the non-revenue water
(NRW) from 60% to approximately 25% by 2018. Agency-wide objectives of NRWRP include:
commercial offices - restructure the customer service
department to be more efficient and provide a better
rate of return; operations - replace broken and old meters, and
implement a regular meter replacement program; and, infrastructure - reduce capital investments by avoiding
the need for new or expanded production facilities. NRWRP has seven major focus areas, divided into the three areas of reduction of apparent losses, programmatic initiatives, and reduction of real losses.
