The Engineers Joint Contract Documents Committee has developed a series of documents specifically for the procurement of materials and equipment. Procurement will usually consist of the manufacture or supply of the equipment or materials, then transfer to the Owner FOB the Contractor's plant or delivery by the Contractor to a designated location. Procurement contracts have been used for years by many firms and individuals, sometimes under such other titles as "furnish and deliver" or "purchase" contracts. The term "procurement" has been selected by EJCDC and the Construction Specifications Institute as being more descriptive, and the term is also recognized in Federal documents and by the American Bar Association.
