The inorganics and corrosion byproducts technical advisory workgroup was established to provide technical guidance to the AWWA Water Utility Council on matters pertaining to regulatory and legislative actions impacting inorganic contaminants in drinking water, including the corrosion byproducts of lead and copper. Technical guidance require data compilation and analysis and technical reviews of pending regulation/legislation and related research projects, information transfer with the USEPA and other utility organizations, and the development and oversight of future research needs. Technical guidance may be in the form of recommendations to the Water Utility Council on regulatory/legislative positions, development of expert testimony, and/or continued dialogue with regulatory officials.
