The purpose of this study was to establish the optimum coagulation for the control of particle removal (cryptosporidium), DBP removal, and color of the raw water at the water treatment plant of the City of Oshkosh. Data was collected during the winter and summer seasons in 1994. The study included the following elements: obtain winter water quality information, determine the DBP formation potential of the water supply, determine the DBP levels in the distribution system, test options to lower the organic levels in the supply, and to predict DBP levels based on water conditions. The study included field work to collect and analyze samples, lab procedures to measure DBP formation potential, and jar tests to obtain settling data and samples for analytical testing.
