Need Help?
Waterleiding Maatschappij Limburg (WML), a water utility in The Netherlands, held a monopoly on the water industry. Now that the utilities market in the Netherlands has been opened up however, the Dutch government is looking to introduce the law of supply and demand in the drinking-water sector. Dutch utilities are being privatized and exposed to genuine market forces. This paper discusses how WML needed to change with the new competitive market and the process it underwent to affect that change.
