GSA Training, Inc. is a sub-consultant to Westin Engineering, Inc. under Contract No. CS-1212. Westin Engineering is providing Construction Assistance Services for the Detroit Water and Sewerage Department (DWSD) Contract PC-665, the Department - Wide Instrumentation, Control, and Computerized Systems Program. This project will replace the process control and monitoring systems for Detroit's water and wastewater treatment plants serving Detroit and 75 surrounding communities in Southeastern Michigan. The training portion of this project includes needs assessments and coordination of training for information systems, interactive videodisc for process control fundamentals, and control system training. A major element of this four year, enterprise-wide project is effective management of technical training. This paper addresses three major challenges faced at the onset of the project: planning and tracking training, providing flexible training, and adding value to the DWSD.
