This slide presentation outlines information on the construction of Phase 1 of Denver Water's recycled water distribution system. The overview of Phase 1 includes: recycled water plant near the South Platte
River on the north edge of Denver;
distribution piping will bring water south
through central Denver;
62,000 feet of pipe (11.7 miles);
10 tunnels;
approximately 6,000 feet of gas main relocation;
1500 feet of 42" storm sewer relocated; 8 bid packages -$13 million;
feed parks and golf courses along the way;
complete and ready for operation on April 1, 2004; and, Phase 1 map. Features special to the non-potable water system:
purple exterior;
purple manhole lids and valve boxes;
valves operate in reverse direction;
purple pentagon nut on valves;
no cement mortar lining;
warning tape;
fiberoptic conduits;
tracer wire;
spacing of the in-line valves; and,
horizontal and vertical separation.
