This slide presentation outlines information on the development of a distribution system
management plan to:
reduce disinfection byproducts;
improve residual maintenance; and,
preserve high aesthetic water quality. There were three components of the project. The first was
distribution water quality assessment, including
evaluation of current corrosion control program, and
identification of opportunity for improvement. The second part of the project was
pilot testing for corrosion control, including
evaluation of alternative pH conditions, chloramines vs chlorine, and corrosion inhibitors. The third part was
pilot testing for nitrification control, including an
assessment of pH control, ammonia control, chlorite, and chlorine
for controlling AOB propagation.
