A comprehensive supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) computer network has given operators in the Division of
Water Supply and Treatment (WS&T) in Dayton, Ohio a "high definition" view of all the well
fields, treatment plants, and pump stations in their system. Broad access to the SCADA
network allows operators to understand the
entire water Supply and treatment system, and not just their own plant or station. As
operators expand their view of WS&T as an integrated whole rather than as separate,
loosely related parts, they are finding new ways to do their own jobs better and to
improve operations system-wide. Includes figures.
