This powerpoint presentation presents WRF Project #4109, "Criteria for Optimized
Distribution Systems". The objective and the challenge of the project was to develop widely useful, easily
measurable criteria. The project approach included: a literature review; a utility survey; expert workgroups; draft optimization criteria; beta testing; expert workshop; and, software development. Distribution system optimization focused on three areas:
water quality integrity - disinfectant residuals;
hydraulic integrity - pressure management; and,
physical integrity - main breaks.
Most of the other 22 categories considered
were influenced by these three areas.
Beta testing will focus on feasibility, practicality, and usefulness of the self-assessment
process. The
May 2009 Workshop reviewed input and finalized protocols, and
software is being developed for data input and analysis. Includes tables, figures.
