Use structured interviews, data flowand work flow diagrams and data dictionaries as tools to help define yourspecific needs. Organize your list of needs in order of priority. Do notcompromise on your highest priorities and do not make last minute changes. Yourcredability is on the line, and stakeholders in your area will look to you forleadership and direction. Be thorough contacting vendor's references. Whilecontacting references, inquire about technical support, training, softwarefunctionality and their overall business character. Choose your software vendorwith care. The last thing you want is to implement a system that will be obsoletebefore your implementation is complete. A third party can assist with research,conducting the interviews and helping groups reach consensus.
