This report describes an Asset Management section that East Bay Municipal Utility District (EBMUD) added to its Maintenance and Operations (O&M) Department. One of Asset Management's tasks is to coordinate, plan and schedule capital work in support of the O&M Department's operating and business objectives. The purpose of this report is to describe how the Asset Management group began the integration of strategic planning with District Forces capital projects and routine preventative and corrective maintenance work. The objectives of this group related to capital project management were: to provide a methodology for determining the impacts of capital improvements and maintenance decisions on schedules and resources; and, to provide information to assist in making strategic decisions regarding the allocation of resources for capital improvement and maintenance assets.
