This article focuses on the content of the Information Collection Rule (ICR) proposed February 10, 1994, and promulgated May 14, 1996. The ICR has three major components: applicability monitoring and treatment studies, monitoring requirements for DBPs and related parameters, and microbial monitoring requirements. The general requirements for each component of the ICR are reviewed here, but not all details can be presented. The US Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) has developed extensive educational materials to assist water utilities in complying with the ICR. Includes 9 references, tables.
