The purpose of this paper is to describe the requirements of the Service and Maintenance Contract used for developing in-house experise by training personnel with the help of the manufacturer. To insure help with this training, the Brazos River Authority required that the electrodialysis reversal (EDR) manufacturer enter into a Service and Maintenance Contract for a period of ten years. The advantages and disadvantages of the contract from the Authority's and the manufacturer's perspectives will be presented.
