The current ongoing study investigates the use of forward osmosis (FO) to concentrate anaerobic digesters (AD) centrate at
the Truckee Meadows Water Reclamation Facility (TMWRF) in Reno, Nevada. The
main objectives of this study were to determine the feasibility of using FO to concentrate
AD centrate, to optimize the operating conditions of a FO system for AD centrate, to
develop an economical model and to determine the cost effectiveness of the FO process,
and to design a pilot system for treatment of a side stream at the treatment plant. Includes 4 references, figures.
