This slide presentation outlines an evaluation of reverse osmosis (RO) and submerged ultrafiltration (UF) application in the case of Eastern Municipal Water District (EMWD). The presentation outline includes:
background information about EMWD;
population growth since 2000;
EMWD's water sources;
EMWD's water treatment facilities;
RO desalination facilities project;
Perris Filtration Project;
cost comparison between Perris Desalination
Facilities Project and Perris Filtration Facility; and,
operations optimization projects including
Perris I and Menifee Desalination Facilities, Optimizing Current
Operations and Perris Filtration Facility, capacity increase evaluation.
Conclusions drawn were: EMWD is continuously challenged with Increased
Water Demand Putting Pressure on its Treatment
Plants to Operate in the Most Optimized Modes;
Continuous Improvements to the Treatment
Processes Could Significantly Drop the Treatment
Cost Over the Life of the Facility; and,
as expected, the Treatment Cost at the RO
Desalination Facilities is Higher than the Cost at the
Filtration Facility.
However, in case of EMWD, these Two Costs Could
be Comparable if Water is Bought from MWD at the
Premium Rate of $550/af During Peak Time. Includes tables.
