This paper describes case histories from water systems around the country that demonstrate the effectiveness of polyphosphate in improving disinfection. Data from four applications are analyzed and show that the addition of a polyphosphate, in conjunction with a disinfectant to a water system exhibiting large numbers of bacteria, killed and/or rendered the bacteria non-viable where the disinfectant alone could not kill/remove the bacteria after several attempts. Includes 2 references, figures.
