This slide presentation outlines a disinfection efficiency evaluation at Charlotte-Mecklenburg Utilities. In 1994, a tracer test was
run when only 5 of the 8
clearwells were constructed.
The results were
"good" but difficult to
understand.
Three clearwell storage tanks
were then added and a second
tracer test is now required. The purpose of the current project was to determine how best to run the next tracer
test by
reviewing 1994 test results to gain a better
understanding of CW 3-4-5 behavior and to
gain a better understanding of the flow. Key engineering tasks included: create hydraulic model (H20Map), link WTP
clearwells and plant piping to distribution
system model;
review existing piping drawings;
review 1994 test data: CW 3-4-5;
model/simulate 1994 test conditions;
estimate CT (disinfection efficiency);
using the model, develop operating plan for
next tracer test; and,
perform tracer test and review results.
