This powerpoint presentation looks at three different arsenic treatment technologies (coagulation filtration, adsorption, and ion exchange) and gives examples of their use at different water treatment plants (WTPs). Information provided on each treatment technology at each plant includes: plant overviews; how the plant was permitted; what to look for and plan for during startup; how the plant is operating; and, operational and design issues discovered during startup and what could have been done differently. The plants used as examples include: Sun City West Arsenic Removal Facility and Paradise Valley Arsenic Removal Facility, both using coagulation filtration; Mesa Falcon Field # 4 Arsenic Treatment System and Chandler Arsenic Treatment System, both using adsorption; and, Mesa Falcon Field # 15 Arsenic and Nitrate Removal System that uses ion exchange.
