This powerpoint presentation begins by providing a brief overview of a project by the New York City (NYC) Department of Environmental
Protection (DEP) to reactivate
a series of groundwater wells in
Brooklyn and Queens. The wells range in depth from 80 to 150
feet, and
water quality concerns include:
iron;
manganese;
hardness; and,
MTBE and PCE. Objectives were to: determine the most effective volatile organic
compound (VOC) process for application at the
Station 6 Demonstration Plant;
remove PCE and MTBE;
establish target treatment levels;
develop a screening analysis that qualitatively
evaluates feasibility of applicable technologies; and, quantitatively evaluate technologies that pass
screening analysis. A comparison of screened technologies is provided, along with a cost comparison. Includes tables, figures.
