The purpose of this powerpoint presentation is
to discuss implementation of dissolved air flotation (DAF) at the
New York City Croton Filtration Plant, and
to make recommendations to utilities
regarding water quality considerations
and design criteria for the use of DAF. The presentation begins by providing a brief overview of the Croton system, along with the primary treatment objectives that include:
disinfection;
particle removal;
natural organic matter removal (for DBP
control); and,
iron and manganese control. Process selection is presented and includes: raw water quality;
contaminants of concern;
pilot studies; and,
membranes.
Design criteria,
current status and
recommendations are also covered. Includes tables, figures.
