This powerpoint presentation begins by providing a brief overview of the Long Beach Water Department's (LBWD's) Seawater Desalination Program. Concerns with seawater quality are presented, along with bench-scale disinfection byproduct (DBP) testing and corrosion testing, LBWD pipe materials, corrosion indices, marble test, pipe section test, and water conditioning. Corrosion testing results include the following: for Indices, the
aggressiveness index, RSI, and CCPP correlated well
with LSI, and
indicated that up to 50% DS blend should be acceptable; for
bench-scale tests,
marble tests correlated well with LSI, and
pipe section tests provides better indication of behavior
of water with specific pipes; and, for
pipe material,
seal-coating provides better protection against corrosion
