This powerpoint presentation begins by providing a definition of drinking water methods and gives examples of methods used. A process approach to method validation is presented, along with U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) method validation guidelines. The five steps in the method validation process include: method selection; method optimization; development of method performance attributes, including
specificity, sensitivity, precision, accuracy, bias, limit
of detection etc.;
writing the method; and,
collaborative studies. The USEPA method approval process is diagrammed.
