To address some of the questions and concerns about biological treatment processes, AwwaRF and the Department of Defense Environmental Security Technology Certification Program (ESTCP) sponsored a survey research effort that targeted the collection of information and insights from personnel of water utilities, Department of Defense or DoD contractor industry, regulatory agencies, consulting firms, equipment vendors, and academic/professional/research institutions. CDM conducted a web-based survey seeking respondent input in identifying the baseline water treatment technology use and in establishing technology acceptance and priorities for research and regulatory initiatives. The survey examined the extent and manner in which various treatment processes are used, and was divided into sections on: general information; technology acceptance; technology or regulatory attributes; and, case study information. This paper presents the preliminary results for technology acceptance with a focus on utility industry perspectives. Includes tables, figures.
