This powerpoint presentation begins by providing a brief overview of aquatic invasive species (AIS) and efforts to manage them by the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW). Specific focus is given to Engrossed Substitute Senate Bill (ESSB) 5699,
passed by the legislature in 2007, and WDFW key objectives that include the following: inspect watercraft, trailers, and outboard
motors at selected boat launching sites;
educate and train general law enforcement
officers;
set up random check stations;
evaluate risks posed by recreational
watercraft and seaplanes; and,
implement an AIS early detection and rapid
response (EDRR) plan. The Washington Ballast Water Program is presented along with enforcement actions. Includes tables.
