A quantitative microbial risk assessment (QMRA) approach was developed and has been explored in Canada both as a means for supporting drinking water guideline values (treatment goals) for enteric viruses and protozoa, and for carrying out site-specific assessments at several drinking water treatment facilities. The experience of using a QMRA approach and computer model for these purposes is discussed. Includes abstract only.
