This powerpoint presentation begins by providing a brief overview of Pima County Regional Wastewater Reclamation Department (PCRWRD). In 2006, there were no POTW security/vulnerability mandates,
all sites functioned with open access emphasis and
funding for security competed with POTW
regulatory mandates.
Five initial steps were requested by the Director, including:
Install Security Guards at Regional Plants;
Develop Security Master Plan (in-process);
Establish Security Baseline; and,
Provide Basic Security Requirements - low cost
measures.
The objectives were to:
instill greater security at PCRWRD facilities using
low cost methods;
develop PCRWRD security culture
change through competition, training, and random security checks; enhance security awareness and practices;
establish a security baseline; and, develop
tangible, measured security statistics. The security assessment approach and results are presented, along with 2008 security recommendations. Improvements include:
automated main entrance gates with proximity
card readers;
investigators escorted while on-site;
employees wearing ID badges;
employees locking out computers when not
present; and,
employees are aware of contacts for reporting
incidents.
