This Standard applies to headwear intended to provide protection for the heads of industrial workers. The Standard defines the areas of the head that are to be protected and includes the basic performance requirements for impact attenuation, p enetration, stability, and dielectric properties.

This Standard does not apply to so-called ""bump caps"".
