La Norma si applica agli analizzatori logici, per la cui verifica di corretto funzionamento sono richieste solo alcune procedure di prova. La Norma fissa metodi uniformi di espressione delle proprietà degli analizzatori logici e più in particolare definisce una terminologia specifica, cataloga i dati relativi a questi tipi di strumenti e precisa le condizioni ed i metodi per provare questi tipi di strumenti al fine di verificarne la conformità alle proprietà indicate dal costruttore.
La presente Norma costituisce la ristampa senza modifiche, secondo il nuovo progetto di veste editoriale, della Norma pari numero ed edizione (Fascicolo 1602).
