Plants of Central Asia - Plant Collection from China and Mongolia, Vol. 7: Liliaceae to Orchidaceae PDF

PREFACE

This, the seventh volume of Plants of Central Asia, contains treatments of families Liliaceae, Dioscoreaceae, Amaryllidaceae, Iridaceae and Orchidaceae, and concludes treatments of all monocotyledonous plants. The taxa of these Central Asian families covered in the present volume are as follows: Liliaceae 19 genera with 179 species, Orchidaceae 18 genera with 30 species, Iridaceae 2 genera with 21 species and Amaryllidaceae and Dioscoreaceae one species each. With inclusion of the species distributed in the Soviet territory of Central Asia, the additions are: for Liliaceae 2 genera with some 80 species, Orchidaceae one genus with 4 species and Iridaceae one genus with 4 species; thus, a total of 4 genera with about 90 species.

Two more genera of Liliaceae with 7 species, 2 species of Iridaceae and 3 species of Orchidaceae have also been included in the keys but are not numbered in the text. All of these are reported from immediately adjoining regions and the probability of their occurrence within non-Soviet Central Asia is not excluded. Thus, this volume covers 43 genera with 191 species.
