This document applies to the DC EV supply equipment for charging electric road vehicles, with a rated supply voltage up to 1 000 V AC or up to 1 500 V DC and a rated output voltage up to 1 500 V DC. This document specifies the DC EV supply equipment of systems A, B and C as defined in Annexes AA, BB and CC. Requirements for systems that do not comply with System A, B or C are not covered by this edition. This document also provides the requirements for bi-directional power flow for System A as specified in Annex AA, with reverse power flow with voltage up to 1 000 V AC or 1 500 V DC. NOTE 1 – The reverse output voltage up to 1 500 V DC is under consideration. NOTE 2 – The requirements for bi-directional power flow for System B and System C are under consideration. Annex DD also provides information about bi-directional power flow. Requirements for non-isolated system are under consideration, and are not specified in this edition. The requirements for digital communication between DC EV supply equipment and electric vehicle for control of DC charging are defined in IEC 61851-24. Requirements for DC charging with an automated connection device are given in IEC 61851- 23-1 (under preparation). NOTE 3 – This document includes information on EV for conductive connection, but limited to the necessary content for describing the power and signalling interface. NOTE 4 – Typical diagrams and variation of DC charging systems are shown in Annex EE. Non-regulated DC EV supply equipment is not covered by this edition.
