Scope and application

The requirements of this standard apply to the processes that manage ISDS throughout the life cycle of a ship or offshore unit, and apply to new-builds, upgrades and modification projects. It puts requirements on the ways of working, but does not contain any specific product requirements.

The requirements of this standard apply to systems, sub-systems and software components created, modified, parameterized, tuned and/or configured for the specific project where this standard is applied. This standard focuses on the software aspect in the context of system and vessel requirements.

The voluntary ISDS class notation, as specified in Ch.3, may be assigned when DNV GL has verified compliance. DNV GL’s verification activities include all the activities specified under the independent verifier (IV) role in Ch.2, for the relevant confidence level (CL).
