Purpose

Following the merger of Det Norske Veritas AS (DNV) and Germanischer Lloyd SE (GL), hereafter denoted legacy companies, DNV GL have established rules to provide basis for classification by the Society.

This document refers to:

DNV Rules for classification (all rule sets).

GL Rules for classification (all rule sets).

DNVGL rules for classification of:

— ships

— high speed and light crafts

— inland navigation vessels

— floating docks

— mobile offshore units

— yachts

— underwater technology

— naval vessels.

Rules and rule amendments are accepted by the appropriate approval body of the Society and will come into force on a date decided by this body. Unless stated otherwise, the coming into force date shall be six (6) months after the date of publication.
