These rules describe to what extent and how to use the two legacy rule sets.
Purpose
Following the merger of Det Norske Veritas AS (DNV) and Germanischer Lloyd SE (GL), hereafter denoted legacy companies, the DNV GL rules for classification are established consisting of this rule document and the legacy companies existing rules at the start of joint operation.
The purpose of the rules is to provide the basis for classification by the Society.
This document refers to legacy rule sets, defined as DNV and GL rule sets in force within the respective legacy companies at the start of joint operation, including later changes in the respective rule sets.
Rules and rule amendments are accepted by the appropriate approval body of the Society and will come into force on a date decided by this body. Unless stated otherwise, the coming into force date shall be six (6) months after the date of publication.
